The statistic shows the revenue Chelsea FC generated from its jersey sponsorship deal from the 2009/10 seasons to the 2021/22 season.


The Chelsea 2009/10 Home Shirt is the latest in a long line of blue shirts that the club have worn. Chelsea have always worn blue shirts since they were founded in 1905, changing from light blue to royal blue around 1912. Manager Tommy Docherty changed the kit in the 1960s when he changed the shorts to blue, and Chelsea wore their distinctive all blue shirt in the 1964/65 season. Chelsea’s nickname of the Blues directly comes from the colour of their football shirts and come Saturday afternoons at Stamford Bridge the stadium will be awash with blue. Chelsea’s 1972 song called “Blue Is the Colour” also pays direct homage to the colour of the shirts. Chelsea were able to generate £9.9million sales on Jersey in 2009/10 seasons.



In terms of kit sponsorship, Chelsea can attract the very best companies out there for lucrative sponsorship deals. Umbro were the sponsors from 1987 to 2006. When that deal ended, Adidas took over as kit sponsors. In 2010, this was extended in a deal that was worth £160m over eight years. Chelsea were able to generate £13.8million sales on Jersey in 2010/11 to 2012-2013 seasons.

In 2013, Chelsea sign an extension deal of £300m sponsorship deal with Samsung but in May 2016, it was announced the agreement would end by mutual agreement in June 2017. Chelsea were able to generate £18million sales on Jersey in 2013/14 to 2014-2015 seasons.

The club agreed a new kit deal with Nike that began the following year. It’s worth £60m a season to Chelsea. 2017/18 saw sleeve sponsorship allowed in the Premier League. Chelsea quickly arranged a deal with the Hyundai Motor Company.

Chelsea were able to generate £40million sales on Jersey in 2016/17 to 2017-22 seasons.
